Objective: 

This course will impart basic practical skill to students for working under aseptic techniques and enable them to isolate and identify bacteria and estimate their growth.

CONTENTS

1.  Introduction to Microbiology laboratory, safety measures and aseptic techniques.

2.  Introduction to microscope and micrometry

3.  Study of bacterial morphology by simple staining.

4.  Differential staining (Grams staining)

5.  Negative staining.

6.  Endospore staining.

7.  Media preparation

8.  Pure culture techniques- isolation of microorganisms by streak plate spread plate and pour plate method.

9.  Study of growth of bacteria

10. Haemocytometer
