A DBT sponsored three day workshop on ‘Hands on Animal Cell culture Techniques: Applications in Cellular Biotechnology Study’ organized by Department of Pharmaceutical Biotechnology, S.K Patel College of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Ganpat University, Mehsana, Gujarat was attended by 9 students of Department of Biotechnology along with Dr. Sreemoyee Chatterjee, Head of the Department and Ms. Payal Mehtani, Additional Head from 12 to 14 September 2013.

The workshop included lectures of eminent scientists like Dr. C.G. Joshi, Professor, Animal Biotechnology, AAU, Anand; Dr. Bhuvan P. Raval, K.J. College of Pharmacy, Vadasma and Dr. Neelima Chauhan, NIPER/PERD Ahemadabad, BV Patel PERD Centre, followed by practical sessions on basic techniques of cell culture process, cell viability and PDT and cytotoxicity of a given sample for all three days.

The group also visited the manufacturing plant and packaging unit of Dudh Sagar Dairy at Mehsana. The tour comprised visit to Sun Temple, Modhera, about 30 k.m from Mehsana as well.
