World Ozone Day marks the occasion when we took a big step towards protecting our environment for future generations. Hence, a documentary and a movie show were organized on 16thSeptember, 2014 to celebrate World Ozone Day by Department of Biotechnology for B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of Biotechnology & Microbiology. The two documentaries were showed which were followed by a very interesting and related movie- The day after tomorrow. The documentaries focused on various aspects of ozone depletion like it is not only caused by extreme cold temperatures at high altitude but also by man-made chlorine compounds, such as coolants in air conditioners and refrigerators, insulation foams and propellants in hair sprays. The movie was very much enjoyed by students and faculty members of various departments.
Students took keen interest and in the end pledged not only in helping to protect the ozone layer but also contributing to global efforts to address climate change. Over all it was a very learning experience and students were looking forward to more of this type of documentary shows.
