Objective of the workshop/seminar/activity:

The objective of the quiz was to reinforce the understanding of the structure and functions of proteins and nucleic acids among B.Sc. and M.Sc. Microbiology and Biotechnology students. Organized and managed by M.Sc. students, the quiz aimed to engage B.Sc. students in these key topics. It also provided an opportunity for M.Sc. students to develop leadership and organizational skills while promoting collaboration and knowledge-sharing in a classroom setting.

Summary/Description:

The Department of Microbiology and Biotechnology organized the Biochemistry Quiz: Structure and Functions of Proteins and Nucleic Acids on November 11, 2024, in room 401, with 34 participants from B.Sc. and M.Sc. Microbiology and Biotechnology programs. The quiz aimed to reinforce students' understanding of key biochemistry topics. Organized and managed by M.Sc. students, the event not only engaged B.Sc. students in active learning but also provided M.Sc. students with an opportunity to develop leadership and organizational skills. The activity encouraged collaboration between both groups, fostering peer-to-peer learning and increasing participants' confidence through friendly competition. Ultimately, the quiz contributed to enhancing knowledge, improving teamwork, and boosting participants' academic confidence.

Outcome of the activity/event/seminar/workshop: Participants benefitted in a variety of ways, including:

  1. Enhanced Knowledge: The quiz deepened the participants' understanding of the structure and functions of proteins and nucleic acids.
  2. Active Learning: Engaging in the quiz allowed B.Sc. students to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical setting.
  3. Skill Development: M.Sc. students gained valuable experience in organizing and managing academic events, improving their leadership and teamwork skills.
  4. Collaboration: The event fostered collaboration between B.Sc. and M.Sc. students, encouraging peer-to-peer learning.
