On 13th October 2023, the Department of Microbiology & Biotechnology had the privilege of hosting Dr. Mohamed Ahmed Mosa Mohamed, an esteemed scientist in the field of agriculture, for a guest lecture on "Green Nanotechnology and its use in biogas production." The lecture took place at the AV Hall of the IISU campus, and it was attended by a diverse audience, including students, faculty members, and researchers in the fields of biotechnology, microbiology, zoology, chemistry, and botany.

Key Highlights:

  1. Insight into Green Nanotechnology: Dr. Mohamed provided a comprehensive overview of the emerging field of green nanotechnology, emphasizing its applications in agriculture, environmental sustainability, and beyond. He highlightedthe synthesis of silver nanoparticles using endophytic fungus.
  2. Nanoparticles and biogas: Dr. Mohamed discussed the use of metal nanoparticles in biogas production, explaining how the particles can enhance biogas production. He presented various case studies and practical examples of how nanotechnology is being employed to revolutionize this practice. He also gave insights into his ongoing project in collaboration with Indian scientists.
  3. Interactive Q&A Session: The lecture was followed by an engaging interactive session where the audience had the opportunity to ask questions and seek clarification on various aspects of green nanotechnology. Dr. Mohamed's responses provided valuable insights into the subject matter.

The session was concluded with the interaction of faculties of the departments of biotechnology, physics, and botany with the speaker.
