Intercollegiate poster competition on Science Rage

According to renowned physicist Stephen Hawking, "science fiction is useful both for stimulating the imagination and for diffusing fear of the future."Indeed, several studies suggest that using science fiction movies as a teaching aid can improve both motivation and achievement. However, if a movie’s plot crosses the line between good and bad science, skeptical eyebrows within the mainstream scientific community begin to rise. Keeping this in mind Department of Biotechnology in collaboration with Dr. B. Lal Institute of Biotechnology organized an intercollegiate poster competition "Science Rage" for the undergraduate and postgraduate students of Biology and related sciences. “Science Rage" was a competition in which students designed a Poster based on a Sci-Fi movie explaining its synopsis and key scientific flaws observed. The guidelines for poster preparation and rules of the competition were shared with them.Students participated in this competition with enthusiasm and a variety of creative work in form of posters weresubmitted by the students.All the submissions were evaluated by a panel of Judges and winners of the competition were as follows: 

  • 1st position goes to Ms. Neha Kaushik, IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur

  • 2nd position is shared between Ms. Benika Sony & Ms. Yashpriya Baid (BIBT, Jaipur)

  • 3rd position goes to Ms. Kumkum Rathore IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur

  • Consolation winners: Ms. Harshita Rastogi, Mr. Dharmendra, Mr. Sachin Singh (BIBT, Jaipur), Ms. Vartika Parashar, Ms. Prerna IIS (deemed to be University), Jaipur.
