October 24-25, 2018
Venue: Research Laboratory
Department of Biotechnology, IISU Campus
The department of Biotechnology organized a two day Hands on Workshop on “Basic Techniques in Molecular Biology” in collaboration with team Makeintern (training partner of Becon event-IIT Delhi) on October 24-25, 2018 for the B.Sc. and M.Sc. students of Life Sciences on the topic “Basic techniques in molecular biology”. Total 38 students of B.Sc. and M.Sc. biotechnology and microbiology attended the workshop. The expert for the session was Mr. Ashvini Kumar from Makeintern. He is an interdisciplinary professional with expertise in medical sciences and computational systems which include machine learning as well as data science to address complex problems. He taught basic techniques to students for handling molecular biology related experiments. The hands on experience were divided in to six sessions that started with basic techniques of handling experiments related to molecular biology. In the next sessions DNA isolation, amplification using PCR was taught which was then followed by gel electrophoresis. In the last a discussion cum competition was conducted to select best five students that will be representing IIS (Deemed to be University), Jaipur in a competition to be held at IIT, Delhi. The workshop also provided a platform to students to interact with the expert and enquire about the job prospects available in the field of biotechnology.
