Objective: 

This course will enable students to study international arrangements and learn Trademark, Geographical Indications and some other IPRs related contemporary issues

 

Course Outcomes: 

CO7:  Understand various international arrangements in the field of IPR

CO8:    Understand different types of intellectual property rights in general and protection of products derived from research or innovations

CO9:    Understand broad outline of IPR regulations related to application particularly Trademarks, Geographical Indications and other IPRs

CO10: Understand National IPR Policy, SIPP, compulsory licensing, unfair competition in IPR

CO11: Understand international importance of IPR

CO12: Contribute effectively in course-specific interaction

Meaning and function of Trademarks; need to protect trademark, Trademarks Law; term of protection, kind of mark that can be used as trademark; Generic trademarks; Conditions for protection of a trademark, Procedure for Registration of Trademarks; Information required to file a Trade mark; searching for trademark; Classification of trademark

Meaning of Geographical Indications, Salient features of the Geographical Indications of Goods (Registration and Protection) Act 1999; GI Registration Process and Procedure for Filing GI, Impacts of GI registration in India;
