Objective: 

This course will enable the students to develop proficiency in fundamental laboratory techniques such as pipetting, centrifugation, microscopy, spectrophotometry and the student will gain practical experience in quantitative as well as qualitative analysis of biomolecules. Students will learn about solutions, pH and buffers.

CONTENTS

1.   Preparation of buffers

2.   To determine the pH of solutions.

3.   To prepare molar and normal solutions

4.   Verification of Beer’s law

5.   Quantitation of proteins by Biuret assay

6.   Quantitation of carbohydrates by DNS method

7.   Quantitation of cholesterol

8.   Separation of given amino acid mixture by Course chromatography

9.   Separation of sugars by thin layer chromatography

10. To study the working of light microscope
