Objective: 

This course will enable students to understand the role of microorganisms in agriculture and the environment and explore microbial diversity, ecology, and interactions. Student will analyze applications in soil fertility, plant-microbe interactions, and bioremediation & apply knowledge to address challenges in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.

CONTENTS

  1. Isolation of Rhizobium from root nodules.
  2. Isolation of Azotobacter
  3. Staining and observation of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal (AM) fungi.
  4. Study of plant diseases of local importance - Citrus canker, Rusts, Smuts, Powdery mildews, Tomato leaf curl.
  5. Isolation of microorganisms from air, water and soil.
  6. Determination of Total Dissolved Solids of water.
  7. Determination of total solids of water.
  8. Determination of dissolved Oxygen (DO) concentration of water sample.
  9. Determination Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD) of sewage sample.
  10. Determination of acidity of the given water sample.
  11. Determination of Alkalinity of water sample.
  12. Measurement of Chloride content of water sample.
