Guest Lecture on Science and Technology

Department of Biotechnology organized a guest lecture on “Science and Technology” by Dr. W. Selvamurthy on 8^th August, 2013, in the AV Hall. Dr. Selvamurthy is a Distinguished Scientist and Chief Controller, Research & Development (Life Sciences & International Cooperation) at Defense Research and Development Organization, Government of India. He has headed the research and development activities for the health & wellbeing of the armed forces as Chief controller (LS) at DRDO and is Chairman/Expert Member of various National Scientific Committees of DST, ICMR, CSIR, DOD. He is currently president Amity Science, Technology & Innovation Foundation, and chair professor for Life Sciences.

He talked about the role of Science & Technology for the betterment of human kind with special reference to Indian defense system. The veteran scientist gave some practical examples of life saving technologies using Biotechnology, psychology and other life science elated innovations undertaken by DRDO. The lecture was informative and interesting as the students and faculty of science background could relate to it significantly.
