Guest Lecture by Prof. Vinay Sharma

Department of Biotechnology organized a guest lecture on “The Nobel Prize” by Prof. Vinay Sharma on 27^th August, 2013, in the AV Hall. Prof. Vinay Sharma is Head, Dean Faculty of Science, Banasthali Vidyapeeth, Bansathali. He has done research in collaboration with Prof. Ulrich Luettge of Darmstadt University of Technology, Darmstadt, Germany in the area of Stress Biotechnology. On invitation of DAAD, Prof. Vinay Sharma has visited Germany (May- June, 2000 for 2 months) and then thrice later in 2001, 2002 and 2003 under DST-DAAD project.

He talked about the history of Nobel Prize and the fields in which Nobel Prize is awarded. He vividly explained the intricacies, even the personal details of the Nobel laureates to generate awareness among the students in the related field of medicine, life science and chemistry. He also focused on how a simple thought process can lead to such prestigious award which can act as a motivation for the young generation.
