TRIP TO NDDB,Anand,Gujarat

A five day trip was organized by the Department of Biotechnology to National Dairy Development Borad (NDDB), Anand, Gujrat from 23rd to 27th March 2015. 20 students from B.Sc. and M.Sc. (Biotechnology, Microbiology and Home Science), along with Prof. Pradeep Bhatnagar, Dr. Charu Sharma and Dr. Payal Mehtani visited NDDB which works for promoting farmers cooperative societies and strengthens them financially. It focuses on all aspects of milk production ranging from fodder development, ration balancing programmes, production of high genetic merit bulls and training farmers for producing quality milk from their cattles. The group also visited Vidya dairy which is completely taken care by students of dairy sciences. The group also visited IRMA, Amul dairy  (largest supplier of milk and milk products in Asia) and Tribhuvan Das Foundation. The students got acquainted with the programmes run by NDDB for farmers welfare and also visited a cooperative society in a nearby village. On the last day of trip the group went to Sabarmati ashram in Ahemdabad.
